Currently being built in Miami is a new self-storage project named North Miami Self Storage. Daniel Abreu, the developer, originally wanted to use double tees with inverted T beams but decided to opt for DELTABEAM® in order to reduce the height between floors. As part of the project, Abreu Development LLC chose to use Peikko 13" and 16" square fire-rated columns in lieu of 20" square pre-cast columns.
Abreu Development LLC, is also the contractor for the project and Kenneth R. Carlson is the architect. The engineer of record for the project is BBM Structural Engineers, while Cement Industries provided the hollow core.
Across North America, we are seeing an increasing trend where DELTABEAM® is being used for Self Storage buildings. DELTABEAM® eliminates the need for spray-on fireproofing while providing long spans, integrated fireproofing, and enabling lower floor-to-floor heights.
The Miami Self Storage project is due to be completed sometime in late 2022.
